Training as a nurse

From 2020, the new, extended, so-called generalist nursing training will start in Germany, also at the Elisabeth von Thuringia Academy (EvTA) at the University Hospital Marburg. The previously separate vocational training courses in health care and nursing, health care and children's nursing and care for the elderly are now merged into a joint training with the professional qualification “nurse” or “nurse”. “Nursing specialists” or “nursing specialists” learn how to care for people of all ages and in all care areas such as in hospitals, nursing homes or in their own homes. This means that the graduates of this renewed, generalist nursing training can easily switch within the nursing care areas at any time. Numerous advanced and advanced training courses as well as various nursing courses enable a continuous development of one's own career planning.
Theoretical training for “nurses” and “nurses” takes place in the nursing school at the Elisabeth von Thuringia Academy. We offer practical training primarily at the university clinic, but also in other different healthcare facilities where care takes place. Experience is gained there in inpatient acute care in the hospital, in long-term care in home facilities, in outpatient care as well as in psychiatric and pediatric care. Insights into palliative and advisory work are also provided. At the Elisabeth von Thüringen Academy there is also the option of choosing a legally required specialization in the pediatric field in order to focus on a personal focus.
