Marburg Ion Beam Therapy Center (MIT)
In the Marburg ion beam therapy center, both hydrogen ions (protons) and carbon ions are irradiated. The treatment with protons and carbon ions is highly effective and offers patients with tumors that were previously difficult to control with radiation therapy, new treatment options.
In the context of radiation therapy of tumors, the use of particle radiation allows optimal protection of organs at risk such as the optic nerves, heart, lungs, liver or kidneys, even when treating extensive or very complex radiation volumes.
